Η ταινία με τις μεγαλύτερες εισπράξεις όλων των εποχών συνεχίζει να είναι το “Όσα παίρνει ο άνεμος” που κυκλοφόρησε το 1939. Σε σημερινά χρήματα η ταινία έχει κερδίσει 3,7 δισεκατομμύρια δολάρια.
Είναι ενδιαφέρον ότι πριν από τις αρχές του 21ου αιώνα, τα δράματα, οι κινηματογραφικές ταινίες δράσης και τα μιούζικαλ ήταν ηγέτες όσον αφορά τις εισπράξεις.
